Holiday bookings: how to get paid before the date
Holiday dates don't move and your calendar is finite. A booking that's paid is a booking you can plan around. Here's how solo owners can run early bookings without the paperwork.

Why holiday bookings need payment up front
- Slots are limited and fixed. A no-show on a mini-session or a light-install day is a slot you can't resell.
- People plan early. Photographers, decorators, cleaners and pet sitters see bookings weeks ahead. That's the best time to secure the money.
- You spend before you earn. Ingredients, supplies and travel all cost you before the date.
- The busy season is when you have the least time to chase. Fewer loose ends in December means more jobs finished.
A simple booking-and-payment routine
- Publish clear terms. State the price, what's included, and what happens if the customer cancels or reschedules.
- Confirm the booking in writing (text or email) with the date, time, and price.
- Send a payment link with the confirmation. Put the date and service in the note so both records match.
- Treat the slot as held once it shows as paid. Mandalo gives you a clean paid/pending status; you decide your own policy.
- Send a second link for the balance or for add-ons after the job, if the price grows.
